Pink Moon and Seascape Works In Progress - Eternity Beach and Diamond Head (And Clarifying Previous Post)

Diamond Head From The Hilton

The above photo of Diamond Head Crater (an extinct volcano)  was taken in the early morning from the beach at the Hilton in Waikiki.  Perfect timing with the boat being there !   Below is the beginning stages of a 6" x 6" acrylic of this scene.

Very very rough beginning of Diamond Head
6" x 6" Acrylic WIP

Eternity Beach

This is Halona Beach on Oahu, but the locals call it Eternity Beach because of the old movie "From Here to Eternity" that had a scene filmed here with Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr.   I am working on another 6" x 6" painting of this scene as well, shown below.

Eternity Beach WIP
Again, very rough work in progress

If you scroll down to the previous post made yesterday, Monday,  I announced 15% off on any paintings of mine until and through December 2, 2013.   That special is for anyone and everyone,  not just followers of this blog or those on my email list.       The special for followers and for those on my email list pertains to the Watercolor DVD  giveaway only.   I just needed to clarify that .  If you are interested in the drawing for the videos, please either follow this blog or sign up to receive my blog posts by email above in the top left side bar.   You could be the winner of a free watercolor DVD !

Below is what greeted me early this morning when I stepped out on my lanai (patio) at sunrise :

Love it ! There was a nice pink glow to the sky and clouds, but the sky was lighter than this image shows.

The photo above was taken at sunrise on Waikiki Beach.   I intend to begin a 6" x 8" painting soon of this treasure hunter.
Two things are good news for you who subscribe to this blog or on my email list here and at my Website  First, I am offering a 15% discount on purchases of any size painting of mine and that applies also to any price range, of course.   This offer begins Monday, November 18, 2013 and will end at midnight on Monday, December 2, 2013, which is also Cyber Monday.  On Cyber Monday there will be other special prices and giveaways on this blog.   I will not have special offers on my Website on December 2, however; just on this Reynolds Renditions blog.   See gift certificate below.

This will not work on PayPal Buy Now button.  Not all of my works have the Buy Now button displayed.  To get your 15% off of your selected painting,  simply email me the code : BLOG15off .    More contact information for me  is above on the link "Contact and Purchase".
I will be able to draw up an invoice for you on PayPal (you do not need to have a PayPal account), or you may pay by check or money order.   Once it clears , I will mail you the painting.  All paintings are priced  and shipped unframed.

Artist Update on 11/20/13 :  I realized that my wording made it sound like only followers of this blog or those on my email list were eligible for the 15%  off.   The 15% off of any painting(s) pertains to anyone and everyone !   The special offer for the giveaway free watercolor DVD as explained below is ONLY for those who subscribe to my blog or are on my email list.

Free Watercolor DVD !!

Your choice of either "Pure Color Glazing in Watercolor" by Arleta Pech or  "Inspiration From The Garden in Watercolor" by Susan Bourdet !!

Both videos are older ones I have had in my possession for some time, but I no longer paint in watercolor to speak of, and thought my readers and followers may enjoy them.  They are in excellent condition.   The Bourdet one has some damage to the outside cover case, however; no dents, just the fine layer of plastic covering is missing.  To view a short preview about each of the above videos go here and scroll to find them listed.

Please be sure to sign up for my blog posts and email list if you have not already done so because I am giving away one of the 2 DVDs described  above in a random drawing from that list on Monday, November 25, at
midnight and will announce it to the winner and on this blog and inquire as to which DVD they prefer for me to send them.

Please share this post on the social media links below if you like and have time.   I would appreciate it!   :-D

Thank you!  And thank you for visiting my blog.

What's On My Easel and Video About the Old Hudson River School Artists

Outrigger at Waikiki Beach at Sunrise

This reference photograph that I took at sunrise on Waikiki Beach is one of 4 paintings I am working on at the present time.  In the actual painting of this outrigger, the sky was more subdued but as usual I got color happy and intensified the sunrise colors in the clouds, etc.    I may tone the sky down again for a softer look.

Below is a very informative video about the Old Hudson River School Artists, including Thomas Cole and Asher B. Durand; there are interesting facts presented on textural scale and atmospheric perspective.  Enjoy!

Long Gone Older Figurative Works

"Wine And Roses 1"
oil on canvas

This painting is no longer in my possession; it was painted around 1988, as you can probably tell because I was not as experienced as I am now and there are some glaring mistakes.   But I rather liked it at the time.  Below is another oil painted about the same time; the object was to paint on the theme of wine and roses.

"Wine And Roses 2"
oil on canvas

Again, some obvious no no's in this work. Both of the paintings shown were painted purely from my imagination.  If I had used actual women models and props,  I am sure the outcome would have been much better.   Again, this was way back in 1988.    I just thought I would share these older works with you as I am considering doing more figurative paintings in the future for a change of pace.

Stay tuned for new work !

To Everything A Season - Reworked (New Mexico Oil Landscape Painting)

"To Everything A Season"
12" x 16" oil on panel
Reworked and completed
$1575

If you scroll down to the previous post on November 2, you will see I forgot to include a couple of tree reflections in the creek .  Silly me; must be my old age    :-)    So I corrected that problem today and tweaked the foreground a bit.   Your computer monitor and mine will probably differ, but the colors are rich in this painting.  There is a slight glare on the image in the foreground that I had a difficult time trying to correct.   Sorry about that.  I took photo after photo and could not correct the problem. Check the previous November 2 post and compare.
