"Sunflowers at North Padre Island, Texas"
16"x20" Oil on Canvas
Great news in the mail today! I received notice that I had been accepted into the prestigious Oil Painters of America! I am positively elated! The above painting was one of the entries I sent them to be judged and juried into this wonderful group of artists. I will definitely be painting more major oils in the future, but will not abandon my almost daily miniature paintings.
The painting shown above is currently not for sale. I may keep it for myself. However, I do accept commissions; also, check out some of the older posts on this blog .
Thank you for your interest and any questions you may have may be sent to reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com

"Sunrise at Sandy Beach"
8"x10" Acrylic on canvas $500
Sandy Beach is located on the Southeast part of Oahu, and is quite pleasant with no huge hotels, etc., just beautiful scenery all around. I never tire of painting seascapes, and I hope my viewers of this blog never tire of them as well. However, I am considering painting more still life and florals in the near future. I, as an artist, thrive on a variety of subject matter so you may get a surprise now and then as to what I post.
If time permits, this coming weekend I will have a drawing for a free miniature painting, as promised previously, for one of those who follow this blog and my Facebook fan page. The winner of the painting will pay no shipping costs, unless they live outside of the USA. Hey, the weekend is here! It is Friday already so either Saturday or Sunday I will have the drawing and post a photo of the free painting along with the first name of the winner, whom I will contact via email. This will be a fun experience!

"Sweet Song" White-Rumped Shama
12"x12" Acrylic on board
Just completed this painting about 2 hours ago. This bird is also known as Shama Thrush and is found on Oahu, Kauai, and Maui. This past February I went to the Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens on Oahu with friends and was fortunate enough to take a few pictures of this handsome thrush before he flew away. I was positively thrilled by the encounter as I had wanted some photos of this bird for a long time . I already had several reference photos of baby shamas I had taken at another botanical garden on Oahu, so now I really was pleased. This painting is of a male Shama Thrush; the female is more gray and duller with a shorter tail than the male. Many people think this is the best songster in the islands.
Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden is very large (400 acres) and has a 32 acre lake on the premises. I may post more later about this wonderful place, as I intend to paint more scenes from there in the future. Wonderful place to spend time in nature, and of course they have lots of waterfowl on their lake.

"Sunrise at Waikiki" 4"x6" Acrylic
This painting is a little more impressionistic than some of my other work. I took several photographs
that particular morning, but this was my favorite scene. It is looking towards the famous Diamondhead extinct volcano, which is not visible in this painting, obviously. There is a nice park near here and also the Honolulu Zoo, which is a great place for me to take reference photos of birds and animals as well as flowers. I don't visit Waikiki very often, mostly because I prefer more secluded, rustic beaches without all the hotels everywhere. But I do enjoy my visits to Waikiki, and it is a great place to take a daily walk along the paved walkway beside the beach--not to mention a safe beach to go swimming. Waikiki is a must see for anyone visiting Honolulu and I hope you enjoy viewing this painting and in my own artistic way I suppose one could say I "took you" there as you view this scene.
This painting is on canvas mounted on museum quality Raymar Art panel. Many of the miniature paintings I post on this blog are on these panels, but some are on stretched canvas or gesso board. All quality materials and paint.
This painting is priced at $125, including shipping if within the USA. Outside of the USA, there will be a small charge for shipping; whatever the Post Office charges for Priority Mail to your particular country.
If you are interested in purchasing this painting, or have any questions about my work or commissions, please contact me at reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com

"Rainbow Bridge- Haliewa"
4"x6" Acrylic on board $125
Haliewa is a charming "artsy" town on the North Shore of Oahu. I love to visit there and usually have lunch at Cholos Mexican Restaurant or Haliewa Joe's. Both have excellent food. There is even a Wyland gallery in this quaint town, as well as several other art galleries. The Rainbow Bridge depicted in this painting is so narrow that it does not allow room for 2 way traffic. Lanes have to wait til it is clear to procede across. The restaurant Haliewa Joe's is to the immediate right of this scene.

I'm So Cute" 6x8 Acrylic
This was such a happy little Pomeranian . Again, as in yesterday's post of a Yorkshire Terrier, this is more of a sketch type portrait. My prices vary depending on size, detail in the subject matter as well as detail in the background, and if a second pet is included in the same painting. A simple head shot like this for a 6"x8" Acrylic is priced at $350. An oil portrait of the same size might run slightly more, depending on how much time is involved in completing the painting.
For more information on pet portraits and any questions or comments, please contact me at reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com Your interest and comments are much appreciated. Stop by my blog and visit often. In June I will have a drawing for a free painting to one of my followers on this blog and on my Facebook fan page. The winner will only be announced on my blogspot http://reynoldsrenditions.blogspot.com/

"Late Bloomer" 24 x 24 Acrylic/canvas
This painting is of the night blooming cereus, a vining cactus found in various parts of the world. It is also the flower of the dragon fruit, or strawberry pear, which I discussed on May 19 on this blog. There are two places in particular in the Honolulu area where I take reference photos of these flowers every July when they are in bloom. They are quite large and showy flowers. This particular flower had hundreds of dew drops glistening on it, but I only painted a few dew drops to avoid over-working the painting.
