Almost Sunset - Kekaha Beach

6" x 6" Acrylic on panel
$300

This painting of the southwestern shore or leeward side of Kauai is pretty true to the reference photo I took there about four years ago.   It really was near sunset time and the beach sand had a nice orange glow instead of a daytime bleached white look.   This area is more scenic than swimmable as the surf and currents are dangerous and unpredictable with sharp coral present as well.   There are experienced surfers that brave the waters, but for the average person it is best not to venture into the ocean there unless the water looks calm.    This area is the longest  uninterrupted beach on Kauai, about a 15 mile stretch.    There are some nice videos on YouTube of this area; at the time I visited there I did not have a camera with video capabilities.

This painting is cause for celebration !   It is my first painting to attempt since I broke my right elbow on June 3.   It felt wonderful to be painting again and everyone can look forward to my making more frequent posts to this site from now on .    So please stop by again soon and see what is new on the easel.

Hanauma Bay Resident

12"x16" Acrylic on gallery wrap canvas

This painting was a joy to paint !  I love to paint roosters as they are so colorful and pretty--  oops, handsome!  Wild jungle fowl are abundant on all the Hawaiian Islands.    For the most part they are skittish of people,  but this guy and some hens were not so shy and one of the hens even laid an egg right near me as I photographed them at Hanauma Bay,  a popular snorkeling beach on the island of Oahu .    Besides the beach there, there is a park and lots of surrounding brush, etc, where I suppose the jungle fowl called home,  thus the title of the painting.     Below is a photo I took overlooking Hanuama Bay.

Hanauma Bay - Oahu, Hawaii

You can easily see the coral in the ocean shown in this photograph.   Lots of colorful fish and turtles for the snorkeler to enjoy here.    The water is not very deep at all for quite a ways from the beach itself.    This bay is more on the Southeast side of Oahu, near the suburb called Hawaii Kai.

Please feel free to contact me if interested in the painting above or any other artwork you may like to purchase on this blog.   I welcome your comments and questions !

Lemonade

                                                         5" x 7" Acrylic on Raymar panel
                                                                             $95

This was a fun painting, but sometimes it is hard to tell when a painting is finished and that was the case with  this miniature painting.    Perhaps I will do another lemonade painting soon, and maybe one of ice tea as well.    Hope you enjoy!   Remember "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade"!

"Mixed Bouquet with Miniature Roses"

                                                        5"x7" Acrylic on stretched canvas
                                                                     $195 framed
                                                                   $150 unframed

This painting would make a nice companion to the previous post of "Texas African Violet with Yellow Rose" .    Oval frames are difficult to find so I will ship this painting with the same frame shown here.  However, there will be a $8.00 charge for shipping within the USA, and $14.00 to another country. If for some reason you would prefer to purchase this painting or the previous "Texas African with Yellow Rose"  unframed (or both of them together)  the price would be $150 each.   Perhaps you may know a framer or for whatever reason; however, the sides of the canvas are not painted and are not even, so the painting will definitely need to be framed to look presentable.   If you purchase the painting unframed, shipping is free within the USA.

I accept major credit cards.   Purchase inquiries at 808-536-0650 or reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com

Thank you and wishing everyone a fantastic 2011   !!

"Near Monterey"

8"x10" Acrylic on canvas
$500

This is a scene near Monterey, California, a place I enjoy visiting.  I used my imagination and added the girl and the seagulls.  Otherwise, the painting is pretty true to the actual area.
