Oil Painting Video - Still Life By Eric Wert

Eric Wert's  attention to detail in his still life and floral paintings is marvelous !   Hope you enjoy the video !  You might want to turn your volume down on your computer as the accompanying music is rather loud. His website is www.werteric.com if you would like more of a visual feast.

I am still painting; the going is slow.  Painters like Eric Wert have inspired me to take a slightly different direction in my still life paintings; not only to add more detail, but to incorporate more "life" in each floral or other work as well ... in landscapes and seascapes too.    Check back soon to view my new work.

Daffodils And Red Tulips On The Easel (Works In Progress)

I thought you might like to see my easel setup and the two oil still life paintings I am working on right now.  I went back to the yellow daffodil painting and it is flowing much smoother now than previously.   Those red flowers with the daffodils will become more purple when finished.   The red tulips are practically painting themselves !  Both of these florals are painted in oils.

As you know, most floor easels like mine shown above have "gaps" with no wood behind where you put your canvas to work on.   When you are painting small works and miniatures, this can be a problem.   I solved it by placing a piece of cardboard between the back of the easel and the artwork; it is also great to put my reference photos on with "Tac" putty, which is the white patches you can see on the cardboard.

December Art Sale - "Seeing Red" (Still Life)

"Seeing Red"
6" x 8" oil on panel
$200

I had a grand time with this oil painting of a red tulip and red striped material.   Looking at it again makes me want to paint another still life, but currently I am working on two landscapes that I hope to complete soon.

This is the last painting offered in the December Art Sale.   All paintings will remain the same sale price through the month of December, and those not sold will revert back to their original higher price beginning January 1.

Please contact me at reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com  to purchase this or any other painting on this blog.  There is more contact information on the "Contact and Purchase" link above.

Tomato Sandwich Anyone ?

Work in Progress 8" x 8"
Tomato Sandwich half
The 2 white blobs behind the sandwich will be salt and pepper shakers

Work In Progress 8" x 8"
The Tomato sandwich in the making
I love tomato sandwiches !  They are also quick and easy to make when you are in hurry.   I very seldom eat bacon now, for health reasons, but that is yummy with the tomatoes as well as lettuce  .....BLT sandwich !   Nowadays, I just eat the tomatoes alone on the sandwich, along with mayonnaise and salt and pepper.

I quickly and very roughly laid in color yesterday in acrylics, but will finish the above 2 paintings in oil with lots of detail.   I also began two other still life paintings as well yesterday which will also be finished in oil paints.  I worked some more on my  4" x 4" water hyacinth yesterday, but I am having trouble with the lavender color .... getting it just right in acrylics is not as easy as with oil paints.   Since it is part of an acrylic set of 4 paintings the same size, I am reluctant to finish the water hyacinth in oils.  Here is a photo of it....remember it is still a work in progress and is rather in a "rough" stage right now.

By the way, you may purchase a print of a photo I took of a water hyacinth at the Fine Art America link on this page , above and to the right .    Or  click here instead.      Thank you for viewing my art !

"The Bold and Beautiful"

8"x10" Oil on panel
$500

I loved the bold stripes of this material, but at first was not sure how they might work with the delicate gardenia blossoms.   I was rather pleased with the finished result and will use this materail again.

Lately I have been doing more photography than actual painting, but that has got to stop!   I am currently working on 3 miniature paintings, but am anxious to begin a larger major piece.   Please return to this blog  often as I will definitely be painting more in the future than I have been lately.  Thank you for stopping by!

For more information or to purchase this painting, please contact me at  reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com      or feel free to phone me at  808.536.0650.         I will be glad to help you in any way I can.

"Red Tulips And Calico"

6"x8" Oil on Raymar panel
$250

This little gem was a bit time consuming with the extra detail in the calico cloth.   Just the same,  I will use this calico fabric in future paintings as I enjoy a challenge sometimes.  I have several more reference photos of still life set ups I photographed using this cloth.   This set up just appealed to me to try to paint first.

If you have any special requests or would like to purchase this painting call me at 808.536.0650
or please email with inquiries at  reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com

I seem to be concentrating on flowers lately and loving every moment of painting them.  Lilies are quite elegant and I shall paint more lilies in the near future.

"Special Vase"

6"x8" Oil on Linen Raymar Panel
$300   Sold

Painting the various colors reflected in this vase was a challenge, especially since it is a miniature painting.   I might use this as a study to paint a larger painting in the future in an effort to more fully capture the colors in the vase.

Thank you for viewing my work and please feel free to comment here or contact me 808.536.0650   or  reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com

"We're All In The Same Boat"

6"x8" Oil on Raymar Panel
$200

More grapes!  I had intended to put this glass gravy boat in a painting long before now.  The title is a little misleading, because three wayward grapes went their own way and jumped out of the boat!  Kind of like people and true life!

Thank you for stopping by and visiting!
